Carly Weston, a repair specialist who works out of the National Mobile Windscreens Birmingham Branch at Phoenix Park, Aston, has achieved the GQA Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Windscreen Repair.
Carly joined National Mobile Windscreens around 12 months ago and explained “After being made redundant by a local garage I applied for the job of Windscreen Repair Specialist because I enjoyed working in the Motor Trade and have always got on well with people; when I found out I had got the job I was really pleased. I attended the induction course at the National Mobile Windscreens Head Office in Bristol and then came back to the Birmingham Branch to continue my training. After a few weeks of working with the experienced Engineers followed by an appraisal I was able to carry out repairs on my own and loved the job, every day is different and really enjoyable. My NVQ Assessor Pete Allan, was really supportive, but at the same time made sure I had all the skills and knowledge needed to meet the standards“
Pete Allan, NVQ Assessor for National Mobile Windscreens was very happy with Carly’s performance saying “It was a real pleasure to spend some time with Carly. She was very keen to complete the qualification and I was impressed with her confidence in completing repairs and her friendly approach with customers was great to see”
Denis Reed, National Mobile Windscreens Compliance Manager and Internal Verifier added “We have been working with GQA qualifications for our Engineers for some years now, but until recently there was no formal qualification for Repair Specialists. When GQA advised us of this new QCF NVQ I saw it as a natural addition to our commitment to having qualified people. We have more of our Repair Specialists working towards the qualification, however Carly’s commitment and enthusiasm has helped her become the first to complete”
Sean Hayes is the GQA appointed External Verifier for National Mobile Windscreens and he commented “Denis and Pete have been great to work with; they show a real commitment to quality. National Mobile Windscreens has a very strong culture of training and development and use the GQA qualifications as a way of improving individual Engineers which in turn has a positive impact on productivity and standards across the business. I was delighted but not surprised when they added the Windscreen Repair qualification to the long established NVQ for its Engineers and having met Carly it is obvious she enjoys her work and is a good ambassador for National Mobile Windscreens”
