Target Windows and PM Training

Target Windows an independent family firm, which began almost 30 years ago, at the Whitebridge Estate in Stone, has been working with the GQA Approved Centre, PM Training.

The company manufactured windows and doors for some of the small local companies before expanding into the public market. Now located in larger premises on the A34 as well as Uttoxeter, Target provides a wide range of products, from replacement sealed units to luxurious conservatories. In the last ten years, the business has also become involved in commercial projects working with large building contractors.

Target first came across the Aspire Group when director Guy Basnett attended a supplier event at the Britannia Stadium in October 2010. Guy says “We immediately became aware of the commitment from PM Training which is the key to a successful training programme”

Target could see the benefit of putting their staff on the Fenestration Installation qualification awarded by GQA Qualifications Ltd. Thirteen window installers including two apprentices joined the programme, which was planned so there was minimal disruption to work commitments.

Guy says: “During the programme PM Training had an Ofsted Inspection and the construction inspector went on site to meet some installers. He commented about the experience and skills witnessed during his visit and this contributed to an overall Grade 2 (good) from Ofsted for PM Training.

Target has now introduced other staff members to the NVQ programmes offered by PM Training, including customer services, business administration and surveyor qualifications with everyone making good progress.
