Claiming Certificates for Apprenticeship Frameworks

There is still much confusion within Providers around what exactly is required when requesting Apprenticeship Framework completion certificates.

Proskills have provided the following guidance:

Competency and Knowledge Qualifications

Copy of appropriate certificates

Functional Skills – Maths & English

Copy of appropriate FS certificates or acceptable equivalent qualifications (as per published criteria as to what is acceptable e.g. Key Skills/GCSEs/A Levels at specified grades, achieved before Sept 2010 and within 5 years immediately prior to starting an Apprenticeship or at any time prior to starting if “A” grade achieved at A level )

PLTS

Completion and return of the PLTS declaration and sign-off sheet. This can be found at the back of our PLTS workbook (copy attached) and can be downloaded using the following link on our Apprenticeship web page:

To download the Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) workbook, click here.

The PLTS workbook also contains an evidence record sheet for each of the PLTS, that the Apprentice can use to record /signpost to appropriate evidence of their achievement of each of the required outcomes. Much of this supporting evidence will probably be part of the Apprentice’s general portfolio. Even if the Proskills PLTS workbook isn’t used as a working document, we will still required the sign off sheet to be completed and returned declaring that the Apprentice, the Employer and the Provider/Assessor all confirm that they are satisfied that all of the PLTS outcomes have been satisfactorily achieved. PLTS signposting documents for all of our frameworks will be available on our website – highlighting opportunities within each of the mandatory units where there is potential for meeting each of the 6 PLTS outcomes. These are provided for guidance only and are not provided as definitive “mapping” documents.

We do recommend use of our PLTS workbook but if all the required outcomes are satisfactorily achieved and demonstrated by learner undertaking appropriate, alternative training that meets all of the PLTS requirements (this does not include achievement of PLTS QCF unit, see next bullet point) then that is acceptable but we still require our PLTS declaration sign off sheet to be completed and submitted when applying for completion certificate.

Alternatively, we do state in all of our Apprenticeship framework documents that if a learner achieves an accredited QCF PLTS unit then certified proof of this will be accepted as suitable evidence when applying for a Completion Certificate.

ERR

Completion and return of the ERR declaration and sign-off sheet. This can be found at the back of our ERR workbook (copy attached) and can be downloaded using the following link on our Apprenticeship web page:

To download the Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Workbook, click here

We do recommend use of our ERR workbook but if all the required outcomes are satisfactorily achieved and demonstrated by learner undertaking appropriate, alternative training that meets all of the ERR requirements (this does not include achievement of ERR QCF unit, see next bullet point) then that is acceptable but we still require our ERR declaration sign off sheet to be completed and submitted when applying for completion certificate.

Alternatively, we do state in all of our Apprenticeship framework documents that if a learner achieves an accredited QCF ERR unit then certified proof of this achievement will be accepted as suitable evidence when applying for a Completion Certificate. Any learner undertaking a GQA knowledge certificate (e.g. within Glass, Coatings & Print) will achieve an accredited QCF ERR unit as it is included as a mandatory requirement within each of the knowledge qualifications.
